Wang Qianyi was born in Jinan in 1993. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University in 2017 and 2020 respectively. He is now working in Beijing, China.
In recent years, Wang has been focusing his attention on and expressing the things that he has not noticed around him, such as construction wastes, unidentified metal objects, and Found Objects on the street during his walks, which, in his view, have no certainty or identity, but are vanishing neighborhoods, unproductive in the
cold winter, and sacrificial offerings thrown into the wilderness. As a well-trained sculptor, Wang has a keen awareness of weighty entities and emphasizes the importance of intuition in his practice, as well as the accurate expression of form, volume, and texture of objects.
